  1. Introduction

             The story of the Tower of Babel is short and, as is often the case in stories such as this, enigmatic and open to many interpretations. In addition to this, the story of the Tower of Babel appears to be inconsistent with respect to the immediately preceding story. This essay will investigate the story. The essay will first summarize the story, then will present some explanations that have been offered,  then will discuss a theocentric explanation for the story, and finally will discusses the issue raised by God’s apparent interference with free will of the builders of the tower.

The next post, Number 2 of 14, presents a summary of the story so the reader and the blogger will be focusing on the same version of the story. This will prevent any misunderstanding caused by different versions of the story.
