It is the thesis of this post series is that free will and imagination are integrally connected with each other and both are necessary for progress.

  1. Definitions

Free Will

For the purposes of this discussion, free will can be defined as the ability to imagine a result and then to act in a manner that is not affected by an outside influence and then to have the results associated with that act affected only by influences that are within the range of probability. Interference with free will is interference with the ability of a person to act in the way he wishes.

Imagination

For the purposes of this discussion, imagination will be defined as the ability to form a mental image without the benefit of one’s senses.
